Welcome to the site of Steven Finnerty Newton.

Here you will find course webpages for geology classes I teach at Diablo Valley College, San Ramon, College of Alameda, College of Marin, Las Positas College, Laney College, Ohlone College, and Cal State Hayward. Yes, I am one of those part-time professors. :) Additionally, you can check out some of my artwork, stuff I've created, and some unsettling pictures.

Disclaimer: On some of these pages you may come across pictures of geologists in their natural environment. Parents should advise their children not to be frightened by what they see. Tell them that geologists are a part of nature. You should not be afraid of approaching, or even speaking to, geologists. Geologists generally don't bite--unless unemployed and exceptionally hungry.

As the natural habitat of geologists is steadily eroded by the encroachment of civilization, geologists are sometimes forced into uncomfortable situations. If you see a geologist puzzled over a flush toilet or a shower, explain to him or her how the device works; you'll be doing the geologist--and yourself--a great favor.
